I lot of the factors for elimination of consideration come from my wife. I have driven two Grand Vitaras, one last weekend and one last night. We sat in or drove the Toyota 4 runner, Highlander, Rav4, Ford Escape. We have spent the last two weekends checking out vehicles. If you factor in the value of the purchase price difference earning compound interest in the meantime, I suspect it's either a saw-off, or even in the Suzuki's favour. You can't just compare them straight across when one cost $4000-6000 less. I say maybe because people tend not to factor in the lower original price. Regarding resale value, Suzuki products over 10 years old seem to have held their ground, so resale value is maybe only a problem if you plan to keep the vehicle for a shorter time. Honda's aren't perfect, and Suzuki doesn't have a bad reputation. (Environmental concerns about using more gas notwithstanding.)Īs for quality, I don't know. In fact, the interest on the price difference may be enough to pay for the extra gas. And the Honda still won't have the low range of the JLX-L. It's nice to see people concerned about mileage.įor the same level of features, the CRV will cost thousands more, and you can balance that against the $200 or so you'll pay more per year for gas for the GV. The CRV will have quite a bit more cargo room, if that's an issue. Not to mention that stupid rear license plate bezel. The traction control is an advantage, but the clearance is less and the underbody is not well protected. The GV won't be as good off-road as the 4x4's you've had. If an Escape can't do some rough road stuff you want to do, I think the CRV would be even less likely to be capable of it. For some reason, with the new GV on the market I have a feeling this forum may really start to grow!! Since I am new here I may not have the feel of this place yet. The Honda dealerships around here seem to have a more take it or leave it attitude with not much discount off MSRP.Īny thoughts about quality issues between Suzuki and Honda? The standard Suzuki warranty (7yr-100,000 miles powertrain with 3 year roadside assistance and rental car coverage) is also very appealing.įeel free to point or move this to another forum or topic area. The Suzuki dealership had quite a few GV's in stock and sounded as if they were willing to deal. I may have to wait a week or so for the weather to warm up. The problem is we are -9 degrees here this morning as I type this. I was planning to go drive both this weekend. I could crawl up those rocks oh so slowly! So is the idea of getting some features like homelink, foglights, a mpg readout, standard subwoofer, and others that are big buck options on a CRV. The 4x4 system with low and high range like my Broncos is really appealing. I looked at a GV (luxury package) last week and was blown away! The interior is really something. The road was to rocky and I was afraid of damaging my friends vehicle. In a Ford Escape last summer we could not make the Crystal Mill. I don't do a lot of 4 wheeling but want to be able to go to go to places like the Alpine Tunnel and Crystal Mill. I actually think the 4cyl is the way to go with gas prices being so unpredictable. My wife has a 2003 Honda Odyssey and we love it, so I was leaning towards the CRV. I have owned a Jeep CJ5, Ford Bronco II and currently have a 1996 full size Bronco. I live in the Denver metro area and 4x4 is a must. I posted a simular post on the Honda SUV Forum I am trying to make a decision between the 2006 Honda CRV and Suzuki GV. I am glad to find your forum and have been following th 2006 Grand Vitara area.Īny chance of giving it its own forum rather then a sub forum?
